Destruction and transposition are the crux Drew Young’s recent work. Young fractures his traditional oil paintings in order to force his figures into new and obscure contexts. He also draws from a bank of abstract marks to create balance between the erratically positioned subjects and the intangible—pushing him into action/reaction art-making. Young is internationally exhibited with shows in LA (Thinkspace Gallery), SF (Gauntlet Gallery), Tokyo (Amp), London (Rook and Raven), NYC (Re:Form Projects), Bogota (Come Together). With features by Juxtapoz, Hi-Fructose, Booooooom.com, Supersonicelectronic and BlueCanvas. Young has also found himself as the youngest instructor for the Federation of Canadian Artists and curator/organizer for Snag, the worlds only weekly live-painting raffle.
