Shaina Kasztelan is an American artist living and working in Detroit, MI. She received her BFA from the College for Creative Studies in 2012 with a concentration in painting and a minor in ceramics. Her work explores themes such as internet youth culture, feminism/identity, drug experimentation and consumer capitalism. Through painting, sculpture and site specific installation, Kasztelan aims to create a hyper-saturated, maximalist landscape which is overwhelmingly cute with a rebellious dark side. Past exhibitions have taken place at the Detroit Institute of Arts, Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, the Detroit Artists Market and the Red Bull House of Art.
