Art reflects the collective emotion of society in times of change and uncertainty. Artists can capture a moment in a way that politicians cannot, bending light, time, and space to convey courageous ideas and provoke reaction. Eventually the work they create becomes the visual vocabulary that's used to bring about societal change.
More work needs to be done to reform a society that has systematically silenced Black voices for centuries. At 1XRUN, we have a responsibility to refine our process, educate ourselves, and continue the work of promoting Black artists.
As a first step, 1XRUN is launching a series that amplifies the Black Lives Matter movement, created by artists whose voices are especially pertinent to this historic moment and our values as curators.
We believe in our artists and we feel their voices need to be heard. Starting now, we’re dedicating our platform to support the movement toward racial justice and police reform, and we’re committing ourselves to putting more artists of color at the forefront.
With each release, we'll be directing 100% of our profits to an organization of the artist’s choice supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.
Art is a powerful catalyst for revolution, and we’re proud to be working alongside such a passionate community of creatives who are paving the path toward a better future.
Let's get to work and make some changes for the better.
