"This scene depicts Kamehameha and his uncles at the funeral festivities of his uncle Kalaniopu’u who was the former King. It's location is the Hale ‘O Keawe temple located at Honaunau Bay, South Kona, Hawaii Island circa late 1700’s. Kamehameha was given the honor by the former king custodianship of the war god Kukailimoku. His cousin Kiwala’o was given stewardship over the lands." - Brook Parker

Born and raised in Hawaii the majority of Brook’s art portrays the deep love and admiration he has for his ancestors. As a child, Brook was greatly influenced in the arts by his father David, a gifted, self-taught artist and painter, Hawaiian historian, genealogist and writer. As Brook grew older his father's interest became his interest and with no formal art school training, his father's library of art books, Hawaiian history books & books of other interest became his other teachers.   I have loved art my whole life but only recently (2009) started painting with a paint brush, (pencil, color pens previously) In 2012 I learned traditional oil painting and I recently completed my first Atelier formal European painting class at Windward Community College last spring.
