ABOUT THIS ART:
"The watercolor represents the start of my journey through the jungle of Peru. The idea surrounds a connection with the patterns of the Asháninka and Shipibo-Conibo. They are sketches of ideas of the tribes: birds, colors, patterns, and also aerial view. They have square shapes, that in my mind, seem like an aerial view of my internal jungle. It's deep in the nature, but you don't see so much sky there. It's really dense with trees. It's a peculiar place to be. I was imagining how it looks from above." -2501

ABOUT 2501:
Milan born 2501 aka Jacopo Ceccarelli defines himself as a multidisciplinary artist who abolishes frontiers between media. Through painting, sculpture, installation, photography and even video, this Italian artist plays around with abstract and figurative images alike. Embarked in a quest for blank spaces, 2501 experiments with lines, shapes and motion in free compositions that show strictness all the while breaking art codes. A tireless traveler, he goes from Europe to South America in art residencies. At the age of 20, he settled in Sao Paulo to teach painting to shantytown children, after studying cinema in Milan and visual communication at the New Bahaus University of Weimar, Germany.

His altruistic personality led him to take on a documentary approach starting in 2008, which evolved a couple of years later toward the Nomadic Experiment project, a series of international exhibitions focused around countercultures in Austria, Italy, Mongolia, Canada and California. 2501's site specific and socially committed work in constant dialogue with urban topography, mainly takes the form of murals, among which a specific mural project carried on during the autumn 2016 for Now Art in Los Angeles. Always on the move due to a career that leads him to answer the calls of various art institutions and fairs around the world, he enjoyed many solo shows in 2016, among which Freedom of Choice at the Celaya Brothiers Gallery, Mexico, and La Macchina, at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Lissone, Italy. He also took part in numerous street art festivals like ALTrove (May) as well as Scope Basel (June), where the famous Wunderkammern Gallery represented him, as well as the Arte Feria of Bologna (January): a success that does not seem to impact the artist's free mind since he keeps hunting new projects. - Maxime Gasnier
