About this Art
AVONE often utilizes his own photographs of people he knows; and through silkscreens and other methods, he creates a unique work of art of the familiar in his studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn. When AV and photographer Julie Miller were in Detroit last year they got a few flicks of the city and they are now starting to appear through his new works. This is the first edition to feature Detroit images as a base for the creativity that the city has provided artists over the past few years.
The photo used for this image was taken by Julie Miller. On many occasions AV and Julie collaborate using his medium of screen printing and her eye for the flick.
AVone is the quintessential New York artist. Through his work, AVONE creates a reimagined urban environment wrought with images of a distinctive and gritty vision of decay. The artist’s work is mainly influenced by the city he calls home, as well as abstract expressionist Franz Kline and Andy Goldsworthy, whose work has inspired the Fragmenting of his writing and self-developed textural surfaces. AVONE’s illustrious list of clients includes global cable television network, ESPN, as well as the men’s professional basketball league, the NBA.
