About this Art
We welcome back Mary Williams for her third RUN of originals with us. With her latest series Shoot the Shit Mary has again crafted several intricate graphite guns exclusively for 1xRUN, but this time around in full color mixed media paintings each rich in detail and completely unique. Utilizing brightly colored handmade paper, a modern architecture magazine, fast food containers, and some tiny 3D materials like a zipper and pill casings. Each piece in this series also arrives in a hand crafted frame ready to hang.
"Some of the ideas for these came about when I was in Texas. There are stars on everything in Texas. I met a guy there who had a bunch of guns. He showed me his collection, most of which was in a state of the art storage locker. I got to hold a small handgun for the first time. This guy was really ready for the apocalypse, except for the fact that he was wearing flip flops." - Mary Williams
This piece of original artwork comes signed by Mary Williams and includes an Original Artwork Letter of Provenance from 1xRUN.
Mary Williams has been drawing since childhood and began a series of mood-laden interiors in college. Those drawings led her to begin large scale portraiture in graduate school. Needing to break out of her habits and gain a wider audience, she began incorporating her drawings into collages. This led her to work with more social themes such as feminism, gun control and the preservation of the environment and its creatures.
