ABOUT THIS ART

This piece of original artwork comes ready to hang

"This piece was part of a larger series I did while at my residency with Redbull House of Art.

The overall theme that I was trying to accomplish with the series was to mask and reveal simultaneously. Each portrait in the series comes down to a fairly simple equation: one part of my personal mythologies, one part my relationship to the subject and one part archetype. “Where Fawn Once Lay” happens to be about romantic love and ones normal fears and worries when romantic love meets lifestyle assimilation. " - Austin Brady

This piece of original artwork comes signed by Austin Brady and with an Original Artwork Letter of Provenance from 1xRUN.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

My ongoing body of work explores the constructs identity, in particular masculine identity, using social climate and personal experiences as a platform for its discourse. I anthropomorphize conflicting feelings, forcing these allegorical figures to deal with their divinity and deformity, to deal with the tension between them, and to reconcile with the reckless physical forms they are given. These figures must speak about their unsure nature and inability to orientate themselves between reinforced identiological binaries, yet be given the tools to unmake such constitutions. By collaging both imagery and concept from ritualistic, mythological, and americultural signs, in tandem with intimate and personal contexts. I hope to observe what is happening culturally to masculinity, define signs we can use to describe these changes, and supply fertile ground for its need for redefinition.
