“Together, these works are somewhat of a current manifesto for me. My work is about pushing forward, and through that, I've learned that I have to Take Risks to make the World Shift, whether that's the world around us or the globe as a whole. No risk, no reward—no reward, no change. My work is often my guiding light, and what I write and paint becomes my navigation ahead. I hope the work I create can give that energy forward to anyone who lives with these pieces.
“The images were created as part of a show I had earlier in the year (2019) titled ‘Midnights’. The work was a collection of the thoughts and energies I felt while pushing past the late hours and making the most of this journey. I made original ink works into acrylic sculptures for the exhibition, but always wanted to give the ideas further life on paper. I also feel my work is a response to life at the moment, and these words, this science, these ideas, are something I need to be reminded of. We have to Take Risks to make the World Shift... the future is bright!” -Bisco Smith

ABOUT Bisco Smith:
BISCO SMITH (b.1980) is an American contemporary urban artist whose work is characterized as a blend of graffiti deconstruction, abstract gesturalism, action painting, and style writing. His technique involves energetic, expressive brushstrokes that reflect the flow of music and translates the consciousness of the moment into painted lyrics and abstract black and white works of art.
Bisco believes that art is energy transmitted through various mediums, and as such, the artist becomes the conduit. He aims to bring a good intention to all his paintings in hopes that the energy will continue to resonate wherever the art lives. His art captures the unseen rhythms of music, the untamed energy of a moment, duality, and good intentions.
Bisco has exhibited art, performed music, painted murals, and partnered with creative brands and live events worldwide. Bisco's work is regularly exhibited in major markets and is collected by both national and international collectors.
