We welcome back Detroit artist Dan Armand with his latest showcase of mixed media works that were part of the Red Bull House of Art here in Detroit's Eastern Market last November.

"These pieces are a continuation of these ammo cans I made a couple years back. I thought the image of the Arabic McDonalds logo on an ammo can was really powerful on a whole number of levels. It was very symbolic of what America has become. I worked on them all simultaneously and the whole installation came together in about 2 months in the Red Bull House of Art Detroit studios. The cans needed a lot of sanding and priming for the painting process so each one had quite a bit of time in them." - Dan Armand

"My love and passion for graffiti and street art began as a teenager, exploring the city of Detroit where my family has called home for over a century. I was fascinated by the stories of the city in its golden age, and began to explore the battered remnants of what remained. It was through that exploration I discovered that graffiti and street art was much more than just writing on walls. It was a unique artform and a community of artists that were striving not only to develop their craft, but also to be seen and appreciated by the world. I began to fully immerse myself in the culture while attending the College for Creative Studies and watched as this clandestine movement made the transition from the pre-internet shadows, becoming an influential industry with a global online reach.

As co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of 1xRUN with 15+ years of professional experience in art, design, advertising, and marketing, I work alongside our vast roster of artists to help take this art from the streets, to inside the places where people work and live.
