"Small Victories is a collection of moments. Those times, in young adult life in particular, when seemingly insignificant actions feel like big accomplishments that only you can truly appreciate-- Eating spinach twice in one day; remembering to floss; driving home sober; getting up on time for work after only two hours of sleep. The experienced simultaneity of the mundane and the meaningful, the trivial and the triumphant.

These mixed media collage works are a brief exploration of those experiences through color, texture, and pattern. Behind the often abstract geometric compositions, there is always an underlying intimacy. Through a combination of digital and physical art-making techniques, my work continues to explore the relationship between art and design, as well as the influence that computers have on both what I make and how I think." - Ellen Rutt
