We are excited to welcome in Californian artist
Glenn Arthur as he brings us one of his latest pieces
Call In The Spirits, Wherever They're At. This piece is an homage to the Disney character Madame Leota one of Arthur's favorite characters from Disneyland.
"This piece is a tribute to the Madame Leota character inside of the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland. It was created for the 3rd annual Monstoberfest show at the Rothick Art Hause gallery in Anaheim CA. The words on the banner are from her book of incantations that sits on the table in front of her floating crystal ball. They translate to "Bring to sight, one who is bound in limbo."
The Haunted Mansion has always been my favorite ride at Disneyland ever since I was a child, so I've always wanted to create a piece of art as a tribute to Madame Leota and I figured the annual Monstoberfest show at the Rothick Art Haus gallery would be the perfect opportunity. She is a blend of art nouveau and macabre romance mixed with my own style. I even went as far as to paint in a ghostly version of my signature hummingbird floating behind her. " - Glenn Arthur
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Born in February of 1979,
Glenn Arthur grew up in a conservative, religious household with little to no influence in art. After shedding his roots he quickly realized that creating art would be his calling. Although he constantly doodled and sketched throughout his youth, Glenn did not come into painting until his late twenties when a friend forced a paintbrush into his hand and said, “You need to do this!”
Since then Glenn has been diligently working on creating his own brand of beautifully painted images. Using all different types of media, he adds in elements and influential symbols of his past and present to each piece. Beyond the aesthetics of his artwork, Glenn brings an overwhelming sense of passion to his paintings. Touching on themes of love, death, conflict and duality, Glenn’s art tells stories of strength and hope through emotion and sentiment with his sensual beauties and signature hummingbirds.
