ABOUT THIS ART:
"In 2010 I went to Detroit for a week to meet up with REVOK with plans to explore and create something. I could not have had a better host and guide. We spent a few days going in and out of abandoned structures. The old Packard plant and a hundred other spots offered so many textures, and various forms of inspiration. We eventually settled on creating something in an old church. In three long days we made a massive abstracted infinity loop out of materials found on site. We titled it “Sunday Mass” and of course we were fortunate enough to make a print of that piece with you guys at 1XRUN. Jason introduced me to y’all, Matt Eaton over at Red Bull Arts Detroit, and a few people in coffee shops and what not… Everyone I met seemed to be creating something. I love Detroit and I think about my visit often. I am super excited to include “Detroit” in my ongoing “Windows” series. The view is of a Detroit arrival and my hope is that the viewer gets a feeling of excitement, wonder and the urge to explore. –Jim Darling
