The Haute to Death record cover remixes are one of the absolute signatures of the duo's visual universe. With over 170 record covers in the series, this special edition honors their ‘fifteen years of fame' by paying homage to one of the most iconic and innovative record covers of all time.
'Heel Slowly and See...' The record cover features a peel-off sticker that reveals the underlying collage of the event's lineup - the heel is backed by a metallic silver finish - a nod to the walls of Warhol's Factory. In fact, the photo of the event's special guest and NYC nightlife legend, Justin Strauss, was taken at the Factory by none other than Warhol himself! Most of the other portraits were taken by Dones at Haute to Death's monthly parties.
Inside the jacket is a non-playable vinyl record with one of five different custom center-label artworks. Each label is signed by Dones and features portraits of each artist who performed at the anniversary soiree.
Unlike the original VU cover, the sticker is repositionable and it gets creased and beat up a little bit more each time you play with it. Interacting with the pieces makes it feel more and more aged like a classic that's been kicking around your record crate for decades and it’s the part that will make each piece in the edition unique in its own way. Dones encourages you to play with it. Let it get a little banged up and loved. He requests that you absolutely *do not* frame it. Keep it out. Love it. Show it to your friends!
