ABOUT THIS ART

This piece of original artwork comes ready to hang.

""This piece was an addition to a series of work I created called “Complejo” which means Complex in Spanish. The piece is called Pelo Malo/Bueno which means Good/Bad Hair. The art piece speaks on some of the opinions the Latino community has on coarse curly hair.

I had created a similar piece with a type treatment. I had the idea to make the piece bigger and simplify the message I was trying to get across." - M. Tony Peralta

About the artist:
Born in New York City's emerging uptown neighborhoods of Washington Heights to Dominican immigrant parents, Peralta was a child of the hip-hop generation. His love of hip-hop music and imagery, together with a traditional Dominican upbringing in the streets of NYC, fueled his early interest in visual art. As a teenager his eye shifted to graffiti. Armed with a Media Arts degree from Long Island University, Peralta began his career as a Design Director at a boutique PR/marketing agency in Manhattan. His in-house work designing logos, websites and promotional materials for clients opened up outside opportunities to design graphics and web designs for fashion companies like Sean John, Goliath, Vault NY and others.
