"Ever since I saw a gruesome renaissance painting of St. Valentine at his beheading in art history, I have had reverence for this holiday. And there is an abundance of chocolate. Who doesn’t like that?
I had some ‘romantic’ paper pieces that I thought I would use for some of my ironic feminist works, but then I got inspired by these tiny grenade-shaped erasers I have in my studio. I thought they would make a pretty mean valentine. And after I made the love bomb I saw some doilies in a store and I had to make another valentine." - Mary Williams

ABOUT Mary Williams:
Mary Williams has been drawing since childhood and began a series of mood-laden interiors in college. Those drawings led her to begin large scale portraiture in graduate school. Needing to break out of her habits and gain a wider audience, she began incorporating her drawings into collages. This led her to work with more social themes such as feminism, gun control and the preservation of the environment and its creatures.
