ABOUT THIS ART:
We are excited to welcome back the talented Mia Araujo for her 3rd RUN with us, this time she has brought us one of her latest paintings "Forest Healer" available in both a standard and embellished edition.
"I wanted to create a piece that would depict the forest as a place to heal from all the exhaustion, stress, and invisible wounds that each of us carry in our daily lives. I was inspired by Alphonse Mucha’s use of fabric and the intent gazes of his women, and by the healing power of the deer-god in Princess Mononoke. I had been listening to an audiobook version of Timothy Egan’s book about the worst wildfire in US history, ‘The Big Burn.’ So I imagined that all of the animals, forest spirits, and mythical characters that lived there would need a place of sanctuary after the horrors of a wildfire.." - Mia Araujo
This RUN is signed, numbered and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Mia Araujo and 1xRUN.

ABOUT Mia Araujo:
I am an Argentine-American artist, born and raised in Los Angeles.

I have long been fascinated by the multi-faceted complexity that makes each person unique. I believe that all individuals contain an entire universe within them, which is invisible to the naked eye. My work concentrates on giving shape to the unseen forces within my subjects-- their thoughts, memories, emotions, and complex histories. These qualities fit together to form a vast, rich inner-landscape of identity and mythology for my characters.

In May 2007, I graduated as valedictorian from Otis College of Art and Design, with a BFA in Illustration and a minor in Creative Writing. I have shown my work in prominent galleries across the US and around the world.

My work has been published in Suggestivism, Imagine FX, Spectrum 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, Juxtapoz Magazine, Hi-Fructose Magazine, Society of Illustrators LA, Blue Canvas, Infected by Art, Miroir Magazine, and the Creative Quarterly.
