"Every city is living and breathing, falling, rebuilding, growing. Every moment is recorded in the history of it's walls and it's people leave traces of themselves behind. Each life is precious and acts as a cog which helps a community to support itself and move forward.
This print is made from paper found in abandoned spaces throughout Detroit. From the ruins of hospitals and schools, pasted together, each with an opened up tea bag, a new city grows from these remnants. Mounted on panels stained to show the ripples which act as mark makers like the rings within a tree.... showing where we have been and will continue to move forward and live as free as we can." - Monica Canilao
