Mysterious Al is an artist from London. His vibrant, high-energy works are based on ancient tribal masks, painted wildly in modern colours.

In 2001, alongside friend and contemporary D*Face, Mysterious Al co-founded the now world-renowned ‘Finders Keepers Crew’; a collective of young outsider artists using stickers, wheat-paste and found objects to create illegal street installations.

The Finders Keepers crew gained international notoriety and found themselves at the forefront of a new art movement: ‘Street-art’. Their widely attended yet illegal pop-up exhibitions formed an often replicated template for promoting the biggest art trend in a decade whilst the roster of artists associated with Finders Keepers went on to become some of the biggest names in this new movement.

Al's new paintings are about love. Happy, smiling faces in bright, vivid colours. But look closer. There’s always something behind a smile.

Mysterious Al is a contemporary artist from London, UK. He rose to fame in the early 2000’s through the explosion of street art, developing a notoriety for his wall paintings, paste-ups and illegal street installations alongside his contemporaries, the Finders Keepers Crew.

Al’s work has changed dramatically from his early beginnings. His latest paintings are based on ancient tribal masks, reimagined in wild contemporary colours. His work is striking and at first glance intimidating. But look closer and you’ll see fragility, vulnerability and pieces that poke fun at man’s psyche and fragile sense of self.
