ABOUT Nick Jaskey:
Nick Jaskey was born in Royal Oak, Michigan in 1982 and has been living and working in Detroit since 2001. He grew up skateboarding and exploring the city as a teenager. Doing this exposed him to things like graffiti, art, and photography. Painting graffiti led him to take notice of the fine details of color and composition that go unnoticed in our day to day lives. These details are what influenced and transitioned him into fine art. The work is a reflection of things he sees in his day to day life, photographed, broke down, and reworked into a abstract form. Currently he works in mostly painting, photography, and sculpture. He is also know for his zines (VERYOK) that he has put out regularly over the past 8 years. His work has been shown in galleries and museums locally and nation wide.
