ABOUT THIS ART

The piece of original artwork comes ready to hang.

"This series of paintings is a continuation of a recent show I did called Abstract Space Pottery, which was inspired by African art and outer space. This is a very exciting series for me, its possibilities are endless.

I've been into hard-edged geometric painting for about 10 years now. My work in this realm began with abstract color-study paintings. Abstract Space Pottery was the first time the work looked like something physical and took on a form. I’d been looking at a lot of African baskets, admiring the color palette and shape. While working on the series, I was listening to a bunch of Detroit techno and that’s where the angular abstract space influence came from. I love the idea of these paintings coming to life in zero gravity." - Nick Jaskey

This piece of original artwork comes signed by Nick Jaskey and includes an Original Artwork Letter of Provenance from 1xRUN.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Nick Jaskey was born in Royal Oak, Michigan in 1982 and has been living and working in Detroit since 2001. He grew up skateboarding and exploring the city as a teenager. Doing this exposed him to things like graffiti, art, and photography. Painting graffiti led him to take notice of the fine details of color and composition that go unnoticed in our day to day lives. These details are what influenced and transitioned him into fine art. The work is a reflection of things he sees in his day to day life, photographed, broke down, and reworked into a abstract form. Currently he works in mostly painting, photography, and sculpture. He is also know for his zines (VERYOK) that he has put out regularly over the past 8 years. His work has been shown in galleries and museums locally and nation wide.
