"That’s Phat Kat. That’s a song he had on his 'Carte Blanche' album that Dilla produced. DJ Dez did the scratches on that. The reason I chose do that song with Kat is I believe that’s my attitude: I believe that people look past me on a lot of things in Detroit. When I owned Burn Rubber, they’d buckle product to LA and New York, and we’d get the leftovers. I always thought that was some bullshit. So that’s the chip that I carry on my shoulder all the time. That song is for Detroit. It doesn’t matter, don’t nobody care about us; all they do is doubt us. But when I blow this fuckin’ spot, they all wanna crowd us. If we know that’s going to happen, we just keep pushing. When I listen to that, what I’m thinking is encouragement."
