"That started out as my nickname. They called me Rick Geezy all the time. I never really explained that I was a tap-dancer. It was because of the history of tap-dancing and how it was used as a way to degrade Black people. That’s still my heritage. I started dancing when I was 15. I danced for national tap-dance day in New York. I’ve been on the Apollo when it was hosted by Whoopi Goldberg. This is something that I’ve never talked about. I’ve spent time with the legends: Jimmy Slyde and Savion Glover, who were in the movie 'Tap'. All of that is coming full circle. That’s why I’m so excited about it, because it’s something I’ve never shared."
