"That piece is really what I’m doing when I go to my office every morning and I dance. I’m being thankful and grateful for everything, even being able to get up and do this. That’s what centers me. When I realized that this was my gift from the Most High, everything started coming together. I was waiting for the way to really present the dance, and it had to be revealed to me as to what it really is for me: Once I learned that it was my form of meditation, it helped me open up and figure out how to move, even find a stronger voice as an audience. That’s how I tie everything together. Everyone knows that I’m a sneaker designer. Some people know that Rick does murals because of 1XRUN. Now I’m tying everything together, all the design, the art, the audio. It was something that we created, and now that’s my thing. Now, I think every piece of art that I make will have a musical component."
Rick Williams encompasses over 15 years of business ownership, design, marketing, and brand development experience. Founder of Burn Rubber Sneaker Boutique in Metro Detroit, Williams understands how to grow a retail space into an iconic brand. Co-owner and Creative Director of Cream Blends, a natural skincare company, and Founder and Creative Director of the DISTINCT LIFE Brand Development Agency. Williams' brand-development experience and background in design have allowed him to design over 50 sneakers with major companies like New Balance, Reebok, Puma, Saucony, Converse, Fila, Diadora & Adidas. He has also worked on special, collaborative projects with major brands such as; Beats by Dre, Foot Locker, Jansport, Bicycle Playing Cards, New Era, Mitchell & Ness, Comedy Central, and most recently the gamer Ninja as the designer and Creative Director for his Adidas x Ninja Time-In product.
