"This photo taken in Sequoia National Park, in October 1988. As a kid growing up in Brooklyn I remember vividly, from my earliest childhood, seeing a photo of an old tree stump in California with an old Model T driving through it. I had that image in my mind all my life. So when we finally had a chance to go to Sequoia in 1988 I had Mary drive our huge yellow pig wagon Cadillac through the tree stump to get this picture.
We wanted our kids to see the Sequoia forest, Katie was 9 and Devon was 6, so it was the perfect time to take them there. They had a great time. We went deep into the forest where there was a downhill path and all of the sudden we heard this incredible rumbling thunder, and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky that day. We turned around and about a quarter mile away there was a herd of wild bulls raging down the path. So we grabbed the kids and ran up the side of the hill. They came racing past us and the ground shook. It was the most unforgettable part of the trip." - Roger Steffens
