Sahil "Silk" Roy is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer based in Melbourne, Australia. With a creative foundation as a graffiti artist spanning well over a decade, his transition into an abstract approach has allowed him to explore an entirely new avenue of style and creative self-expression. Inspired by the spontaneous compositions that exist throughout his cityscape, Sahil has long been drawn to these somewhat temporary glimpses of colour, shape and form. Built up from years of bill posters, scrawls, graffiti and neglect, layers of the past and present are lifted, torn and pulled back, revealing pockets of collage-like scrapbook pages.
After years of obsessively studying and documenting these experiences, Sahil's now signature layering processes enable him to capture his own visual narratives, floating through dynamic layers of stylistic introspection.
