"I was making collages out of vintage African-American magazines and I started to use currency as a medium when making them. I independently funded a show called Break Bread—slang which basically means you have an exchange, it means to share assets. I used that as a metaphor and would invite other artists into the show."Â

ABOUT Sajjad:
Sajjad is a multidisciplinary artist born and based in New York City. His work centers around motifs from daily urban life, taking the mundane and meticulously recrafting them into works of art. Through digital and analog techniques, he intends to elevate the everyday by repurposing images and displacing them from their original circumstances. Sajjad thereby reimagines the existing narrative around a given construct, whether the global political economy or racial identity, making the viewer pause and reconsider the status quo.
