"This one is called Detroit Dingo. A dingo is a wild dog in the Australian outback known for doing the rap sprays on Uluru and making rad 80's patches for his boy band.
The work was created during our stay at 1Xrun. I was experimenting with spray paint marbling and it was the first time I had ever tried this technique. It came out rad so I did a few more. The old blue book cover in one that I had found in a dumpster on upper Gratiot Ave. at the abandoned gas station where we were painting. I went with the theme of arctic adventure on this one." - The Yok
"We made them in the 1xrun loft while hanging out with the Australian dream team Daek, Fecks and Yok. Detroit was what I expected and way more. Love this place! Don't want to leave." - Sheryo
This piece of original artwork is signed by Sheryo & The Yok and comes with an Original Artwork Letter of Provenance from 1xRUN.
Sheryo is an artist who paints imperfect gnarly characters that are calming to disoriented souls, and might cause skitter skatter explosions in the brain ...
Working collaboratively with The Yok, they have exhibited and painted in various parts of the world - Mexico, NY, Atlanta, LA, Miami, Africa, Belgium, London, Europe, Seoul, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia and Cambodia.
If the artwork produced by The Yok ever came to life, it would be a fantastic army of eccentric, moustached, bike riding Gargoyle-esque creatures who may or may not have connections with Australian bushrangers.
The character-based works of this Australian-born artist have been spotted on the streets of countries near and far as hes been making his way around the world.
For some years now, the droopy eyes and twisted moustaches of Yoks black-lined characters have been staring aimlessly from Australian alleyways, zines and gallery walls.
A yearning to see and do more elsewhere saw him spend time and exhibit in places like Melbourne, Sydney, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Berlin, New York, Tokyo and London, collaborating with local artists on their city walls.
