"This print is based on a mural I painted at the The Santa Clara Elementary School in Miami during Art Week last December. Painted as a part of the
aWall Mural Project, founded and curated by
Registered Artist, the project aimed to immerse and expose the students to the beauty, power, and possibilities of large scale art.
"The mural speaks to the power of learning through play and was painted on a wall that sits opposite the school’s playground. The two tigers are playfully fighting, learning the important skills they need to be able to hunt and survive in the wild. In the same way, competitive playing is an important way for children to make sense of their world and learn the social and cognitive skills they need to thrive.
"The hand-embellishments on the print amplify the motion of the tigers, each with its own unique variations, and were painted with acrylic paints on 230gsm paper. A year after the mural was painted, this print serves as a lasting memory of an impactful project. I’m looking forward to returning to Miami this December to create a new mural, too." -Sonny
