All proceeds from the Heliotrope Prints series benefit the Heliotrope Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by artist Caledonia Curry (Swoon) to advance the values & vision of her community-based projects. The Heliotrope Foundation supports three core projects: Braddock Tiles in Braddock, Pennsylvania; Konbit Shelter in Cormiers, Haiti, and The Music Box Village in New Orleans, Louisiana.

"The Heliotrope Print Suite originally started with me just reaching out to my friends, and people volunteering, but now it’s grown to become an incredible representation of contemporary art making in its own right. The foundation itself started about two years ago, but the work we’re doing started much earlier. We have three core projects: a post earthquake rebuilding project in Haiti, a ceramics and job training program in Braddock, PA and musical architecture in New Orleans. " - Swoon

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
The Heliotrope Foundation supports communities through creative responses to adversity. Founded by artist Caledonia Curry, also known as Swoon, Heliotrope facilitates projects that help communities respond and heal after natural disasters, economic devastation, and urgent social crisis. We believe that the creative process can be a uniquely transformative part of how we rebuild our communities and move society forward. Heliotrope Foundation’s main project is Konbit Shelter, which began as a sustainable re-building project in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti in 2010 and has developed into a long-term relationship with the community of Cormiers, based on a shared commitment to the process of recovery. Since 2010, we’ve built a community center and three single-family homes, each designed and adapted with feedback from the community. Our work has focused on creating meaningful work and well-paid jobs for local residents while collectively creating beautiful architectural solutions to the problem of rebuilding with limited resources by utilizing locally sourced materials in innovative ways. Additionally, we support a weekly after-school program for 30-50 children in Cormiers, Haiti. This program, named Klub Obzevatwa, employs local residents as teachers who impart meaningful skills in art, culture, music, earthquake preparedness and more to the youth of the area.
