ABOUT Joshua Hanford:
Detroit City, born and raised is how this story starts. I was gifted with strong conceptual and cognitive abilities from a young age, which resulted in extreme academic boredom as a child. School was too easy. Finding answers was too easy. Submergence into the visual arts was my outlet. No right or wrong answer to any question. Simply opinion.

This submergence transformed into a passion in high school. My studies focused mainly animation and graphics. As I honed those skills, I discovered the joy in creating my own environments and content with the use of photographs.

I attended college at The College for Creative Studies in Detroit, studying motion graphics. After a brief stint in that field, I realized my true place was conversing with people and expressing my ideas and compositions though a lens.

In 2008 I officially started my career as a professional photographer and retoucher. I worked in numerous local studios, learning the business aspects, and took jobs with a number of different kinds of photography companies until I really found what I loved doing most.

Today I specialize in destination weddings, music and editorial style photography and portraiture. I have been lucky enough to travel the world capturing couples special moments, and musicians powerful portraits and performances.
