"This piece is a classic Miss Van drawing for me. Simple, sensual and sophisticated. The original was sold at my last show in Los Angeles "Wild at Heart" this past August of 2012. It’s a piece that represent and resumes very well my work on general, it’s like a synthese of all the characters I’ve drawn for the past 20 years." - Miss Van

Miss Van began painting in the streets of her hometown, Toulouse, France, in the early 1990's. Her sensual 'poupee' characters, painted with brush and acrylic paint as opposed to spraypaint, powerfully stood out from the rest of the male-dominated graffiti pieces seen throughout her city. Their sensuality, femininity, and unique style gained her work recognition and respect, both from females and males in the graffiti world and as well as the art world. Soon her work had a global following and her characters became icons in their own right. She has inspired many and her paintings have become highly sought after by collectors.
Miss Van’s recent artistic pursuits have taken her to Los Angeles, Miami , Spain and Brazil, which hallmarks a recent return to street art, after several years spent solely painting in the studio, charging her new works with increased depth, emotion and an elevated romantic darkness and delicacy. Her iconic sultry female characters reappear in sensual yet dark animal masks and evolving environments.

In a gauzy romantic compositions, they carry a surreal quality of burlesque, resonating with a beautiful synergy of rawness, softness and emotion. Miss Van adds, “I’m evolving and growing up with my paintings. It’s the only way, when you paint with emotions and feelings. I’m trying to be true with myself.”
