About The Artist

The framing option on this RUN includes a 1 Inch Black Wood Frame with UV-Glass, foam core backing and ready to hang hardware.

"The piece is titled Heartland 2. The original windows themselves are layered woodwork with acrylic and aerosol paintings within them. I want people to look around within the window as they would from the air and enjoy it. This window is one from my ongoing “Windows” series, I chose to share this view as it’s middle America, which is where I grew up.

The windows are a continuation of work from a two person show with my wife Tina five years ago. About a year ago I decided to revisit them. The show that Tina and I had together was called “Over Under”. I concentrated on things in the air while she focused on things underwater. I was making pieces with characters sitting in rows together as temporary roommates. While working on those I thought about the window seat, how special it is, how it can be taken for granted, and how the view can put things into perspective." - Jim Darling

This RUN comes signed, numbered and with a Certificate of Authenticity from Jim Darling and 1xRUN.

Darling grew up in the suburbs of Dallas and received his BFA in graphic design from an art school in Denver. Day to day Jim works as a creative director / designer and is a husband and father of two.

Darling's gallery work ranges from intricate ink drawings, layered woodwork with illustrative painted skins, to freestanding sculpture. Outside, Jim expands his tool set by including found objects and materials. His subject matter lives between play and real.
