About The Work
About The Artist

This piece of original artwork comes ready to hang.

For her latest hand-painted multiples for Reed Space Mimi Yoon pulled inspiration for her continuing Misfits series from this iconic quote from Apple's Steve Jobs.

"Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify they, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do." - Steve Jobs

This October 1xRUN in collaboration with jeffstaple took over New York City’s Reed Space for an exhibition of exclusive fine art editions by the Detroit based publisher and hand-painted multiples featuring new work from Ricky Powell, Anthony Lister, Kevin Lyons, Naturel, Mimi Yoon and Prefab77.

For this unique exhibition, Staple has hand-picked select artists from the 1xRUN family to remix his iconic Reed Space chair, with each artist applying their unique iconography to the classic logo. In addition to the logo remix, each artist will be releasing a limited edition print.

After building a global streetwear brand, jeffstaple continues to be instrumental in bridging the fashion world with the contemporary art movement. The collection of artists Staple has curated and assembled for this exhibition hail from every corner of the diverse new contemporary movement blending, design, illustration, photography, graffiti and public art. Each of these hand selected artists have been instrumental in their own right in sculpting the visual landscape of the urban environment. prefablyons

With two equally devoted but unique fan bases, Staple and 1xRUN have found that the fans who support these designers, tastemakers, trendsetters and artists have just 1 degree of separation in terms of style and culture. This event will bring these groups together to descend upon Reed Space to celebrate the confluence of art, culture and style.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
For artist Mimi Yoon, there is no concrete definition for art. To her it is simply that "art is." Mimi's artwork vibrates with tangible and sensual beauty and honesty. It subtly allures then climaxes to demand attention and is immediately unforgettable.

Mimi works intuitively without speculating what each piece will be about. She paints with acrylic, but her main medium is her own feelings and mood of the moment. Through her art she explores the landscape of dreams and emotions not understood, and invites the viewers to drift off on emotional journeys into a world of dreaming. Mimi’s art is explosive and sensually mysterious at once and it settles upon the eyes and souls of the viewers like a fine tuned symphony of a foggy night.

At times, Mimi works intuitively without speculating what the piece will be about using her mood as her medium inviting the audience to drift off on emotional journeys. But her more recent works scream subtle social statements embracing both femininity and strength of women.
